SR3100 HARD FESCUE
SR 3100 is the newest improvement in hard fescues. Selected for a dwarfer habit and darker green color it is a premium grass for both low maintenance sites and as part of a high quality lawn mix. In addition, SR 3100 contains very high levels of viable endophyte. The endophyte is a fungus that lives between the plant cells and provides SR 3100 with natural insect resistance and the ability to persist in adverse environmental conditions. SR 3100 is ideal for environmentally sensitive sites where chemical use is limited.
SR 3100 hard fescue is a versatile grass that will help reduce maintenance costs whether planted in a monostand or a mixture. Its dwarfer growth habit reduces the number and frequency of mowings and reduces clipping yields. In low maintenance areas it forms an attractive, dark green, dense turf requiring minimal water and fertilization in both sun and shade. This makes SR 3100 ideal for use on golf course slopes and bunkers as well as in parks, roadsides, and reclamation areas. It is also ideal for the homeowner who desires quality turf with reduced maintenance. In addition, SR 3100 can be blended with improved Kentucky bluegrasses, turf-type perennial ryegrasses, and Chewings fescues for a high quality lawn mixture.
SR 3100 contains high levels of viable endophytes. The presence of these high levels provides many benefits that make SR 3100 particularly valuable for use in those sites where chemical applications are limited. The presence of the endophyte has been shown to provide resistance to a number of important turf insects including: billbugs, sod webworms, chinch bugs, and armyworms. In addition, endophyte-enhanced cultivars during high stress periods have demonstrated increased vigor, reduced weed invasion, rapid recovery from injury, improved persistence, greater density, and increased heat and drought tolerance. The presence of the endophyte makes SR 3100 even better adapted to the droughty, low maintenance sites where hard fescues are superior.
SR 3100 has shown high resistance to many common turf diseases: leafspot, red thread, summer patch, pink patch, netblotch, powdery mildew, leaf rust, and dollar spot. This combination of disease and insect resistance contributes to its superior performance in the shade and makes SR 3100 perfect for environmentally sensitive areas where chemical applications may be limited.

SR3150 HARD FESCUE
SR 3150 hard fescue is a significant advancement in hard fescues enabling this low maintenance species to be used from golf course fairways to unmown roadsides. Traditionally hard fescues were used on shade sites of home lawns or golf course roughs but the advances in SR 3150 enable this superior product to be used from sun to shade and high to low maintenance sites. The high endophyte levels enable this variety to resist surface insects and helps provide protection against diseases such as Dollar Spot. Improved heat and summer stress resistance further expands the uses for SR 3150.
SR3200 BLUE FESCUE
SR 3200 blue fescue is a unique new grass that can be used in a large number of turf settings. SR 3200 is a very low maintenance grass, with a fine texture similar to hard or Chewings fescue. Environmentally sensitive sites or the lawns of busy homeowners can both benefit by using SR 3200.
Blue fescues (Festuca glauca) have traditionally been viewed only as ornamental grasses, with a few spaced plants in a landscape bed. Blue fescues look beautiful in this setting or mixed with wildflowers, but with the availability of seed they can be used in many other areas where low maintenance turf is desired. SR 3200 is well adapted to a mown turf situation, with the blue/green color developing in high stress periods. It can be used for home lawns, golf course roughs, roadsides, cemeteries and commercial sites. The distinctive color allows it to add landscaping detail and interest to mown turf areas.
VERY LOW MAINTENANCE
The germplasm that was used in the development of SR 3200 came from the lowest input turf sites. Blue fescues are found in cemeteries, parks and roadsides that are unirrigated, with no fertilizer and mown infrequently, if at all. The waxy leaf covering reduces transpiration so the plant can survive extended droughts and contributes to the blue/green color it develops during these stress periods. The foliage does not exceed 12 inches in height, so mowing is only needed to remove seedheads. It has good winter color and looks greener during this period. Blue fescues are very shade tolerant, often found in the dry shade of trees. The need for little or no fertilizer make them ideal for environmentally sensitive, very low maintenance sites.
SR 3200 blue fescue contains high levels of viable endophyte. This contributes to its stress tolerance and makes it resistant to a broad range of surface feeding insects. The endophyte also contributes to the dollar spot resistance observed in this variety.

SR5100 CHEWINGS FESCUE
SR 5100 Chewings fescue is an improved, lower-growing fine fescue. Its unique characteristics allow its use in both high and low maintenance turf. SR 5100's improved stress tolerance makes it possible to use it in many sites, in both sun and shade, where older Chewings fescues would not survive. The lower growth habit enables SR 5100 to be cut short for golf course use, and to grow shorter and more slowly for low maintenance situations. SR 5100 is an ideal component for many turfgrass mixtures with perennial ryegrasses, other fine fescues, Kentucky bluegrasses and bentgrasses. It contains high levels of viable endophyte which provides natural insect resistance, and the ability to survive under adverse environmental conditions. SR 5100 is ideal for environmentally sensitive sites.
HIGH OR LOW MAINTENANCE
SR 5100 Chewings fescue is the culmination of a long-term program aimed at improving powdery mildew resistance, turf performance and stress tolerance under close mowing, and selecting an attractive lower-growing plant type. Additional selection was performed for a reduced leaf length; higher seed yield; freedom from choke that can be caused by the endophyte; and a bright, dark green color. The improved summer performance enables SR 5100 to be used in warmer areas than other Chewings fescues. It can be used in much lower maintenance conditions throughout this zone with low growth and stress tolerance.
Under medium or high maintenance conditions SR 5100 forms a fine, dense, low-growing turf that tolerates close mowing. The quick germination and establishment allow it to be used in overseeding situations. SR 5100 is ideally suited for golf courses where the dense, fine, upright growth supports a ball well for the golfer. Its insect and disease resistance and stress tolerance, even with reduced nitrogen, make SR 5100 easy to manage. Its dense growth habit helps reduce weed invasion.
SR 5100 has shown good resistance to leaf spot which can significantly damage turf. The improved powdery mildew resistance allows it to be used in shady or protected sites where older varieties would be lost. This improved resistance may contribute to improved summer performance since infection with powdery mildew has been shown to increase transpiration. High endophyte levels contribute to SR 5100's excellent dollar spot resistance, especially at lower nitrogen levels.
SR 5100 contains high levels of an Acremonium-type endophyte that enhances resistance to a number of turf insects. High endophyte levels have also been shown to improve summer survival, enhance fall recovery, and reduce dollar spot and weed invasion in Chewings fescue. Endophyte levels can only be maintained through proper storage of breeder, foundation, and certified seed. Endophyte viability can be lost in normal storage conditions within two years, so it is important to use fresh seed.

SR 5130 Chewings fescue is the culmination of years of cooperative research between Rutgers University and Seed Research of Oregon. SR 5130 traces its origins back to twelve clones selected at Rutgers University for its improved turf performance, including color, density, stress and disease resistance. Progeny of those clones were sent to Seed Research of Oregon's research facility where further screening was done for higher seed yield, color, and improved stress and disease resistance in the production environment.
From the turf industry's leading fine fescue breeding program comes the most advanced strong creeping fescue ever developed. SR 5200E is the culmination of years of intense breeding and varietal research. It is your best choice for blending with Kentucky bluegrasses and was developed not to overdominate other grasses. Strong Creeping Red Fescue
The program leading to SR 5200E began in the early 1980s. Germplasm was collected and screened at the USDA research facility at Beltsville, Md., for higher turf quality under stress conditions, fine leaf texture and leafspot resistance. New material was added to that breeding process in 1991, from the University of Rhode Island, that had very high endophyte levels. This new germplasm source compared favorably to the USDA material in texture, color and growth habit. The final breeding work was conducted at SRO's research facility in Corvallis, Ore. Both programs emphasized using germplasm collected from low maintenance sites for long-term survival.

The endophyte-enhanced SR 5210 is a superb choice for blending with other fine fescues, bluegrasses or perennial ryegrasses.
SR 5250 strong creeping red fescue is a highly adaptable variety because it thrives in both sun and shade and high or low maintenance. It has demonstrated superior performance in fairway maintenance trials and other trials with low inputs and no irrigation. The endophyte that is naturally present in SR 5250 provides protection against many insects and has been documented to improve disease resistance and stress tolerance. SR 5250 is a superb choice for blending with other fine fescues, bluegrasses or perennial ryegrasses.
SR 8200 dwarf-type tall fescue has the qualities you look for in the newest cultivars. It is lower-growing and forms a fine-textured, dark green, dense turf. This dwarf-type growth habit didn't happen overnight but is the result of many years of breeding. The 474 progeny from 32 clones that comprise the parents of SR 8200 are the result of multiple cycles of selection oriented toward the selection of lower-growing plants along with other desirable characteristics
The germplasm utilized in the development of SR 8200 was from an extensive plant exploration program designed to find those outstanding plants that over time had survived environmental stresses such as close-mowing, traffic, excessive shade, drought, cold, and disease. This germplasm then underwent additional cycles of selection to find superior, attractive, low-growing plants that could survive frequent close-mowing, severe competition, and disease.
The result is SR 8200, a variety with a dwarf-type growth habit combined with the traditional attributes of tall fescue. These include excellent wear tolerance, cold tolerance, the ability to survive in poor soils, and good root development. It maintains the ability to thrive in acid or alkaline soils and under saturated or dry conditions.
SR 8200 has high levels of endophyte. It takes extra years of breeding to incorporate the endophyte into improved turf-type tall fescues. The benefits in the tall fescues include excellent resistance to the following turf insects: sod webworms, billbugs, chinch bugs, armyworms, and aphids. It has now been documented that it also provides protection against white grubs and some nematodes. The presence of the endophyte also contributes to improved osmotic adjustment and stress tolerance so it shows better summer survival, enhanced fall recovery, and reduced weed invasion. This enables SR 8200 to keep growing when other tall fescues without the endophyte have a dull green color from stress.
SR 8200 was bred for very good resistance to stem rust (caused by Puccinia graminis Pers.). It also shows good resistance to net blotch (caused by Drechslera dictyoides F. sp. dictyoides Drechs.) and crown rust (caused by Puccinia coronata Cda.)
SR 8200 has real advantages when it comes to maintenance. SR 8200 can tolerate close mowing and still maintain its high turf quality. Also, the slower growth rates will significantly reduce mowing requirements throughout the growing season. Furthermore, SR 8200 has such a rich, dark green color that nitrogen applications can be reduced without sacrificing appearance.
