• Good seedling vigor for rapid establishment
• Excellent summer performance
• High density
• Endophyte enhanced
PROVEN IN NATIONAL TESTS:
Accent’s quality performance has been among the top 20 varieties in the National Turfgrass Evaluation Program’s (NTEP) 1994 perennial ryegrass trial.
ESTABLISHES UNDER TOUGH CONDITIONS:
Accent’s speedy germination and seedling vigor provide quick establishment, even under adverse growing conditions.
Accent is a medium dark green variety that forms a dense turf. It is especially dark and dense during the spring and summer months.
EFFECTIVE IN AN IPM PROGRAM:
Accent complements an Integrated Pest Management program by its improved disease resistance in conjunction with high endophyte content. Its excellent persistence is reflected in a high living ground coverage through the four seasons, with reduced winter damage.
Accent is enhanced with Neotyphodium endophyte to provide excellent resistance to several common turfgrass surface-feeding insects, including:
• Sod webworm - Crambus spp.
• Chinchbug - Blissus spp.
• Billbug - Sphenophorus parvulus
• Weevil - Hyperodes and Listronotus spp.
• Aphid - Aphis spp.
• Fall armyworm - Spodoptera frugiperda
Dollar spot - Excellent resistance
Red thread - Very good resistance
Rhizoctonia brown patch - Good resistance
Pythium blight - Good resistance
Leaf spot - Good resistance
Accent was developed by Susan Samudio at Jacklin and Medalist America Seed Company, Post Falls, ID. Accent was accepted by the National Grass Variety Review Board, March, 1996.
